Abstract

The training workshop builds the capacity of government representatives, exporters, business associations, lead farmers and agribusinesses in Sri Lanka by analysing safety, quality and sustainability standards to enable them to better understand and integrate into global value chains. Lack of understanding of international market regulations is a major challenge for integration for SMEs in the Sri Lankan agricultural sector. The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a global leader in providing information on compliance, certification and market opportunities. The training package contains: 1) workshop agenda, 2) presentation guiding the participants on the basics of sustainability standards in international trade, 3) presentation on the use of the Standards Map online tool.
